What better way to start the seventh edition of the Festival of Italian Cinema: Viva Freedom is an ingenious satirical comedy about politics and individual ambitions, and that all Portuguese should see as soon as possible.
Seems like a classic tale of deceit, but has modern contours (which are perfectly matched to the Portuguese reality, and the whole policy in general): Viva Freedom tells of Enrico Oliveri (Toni Servillo), the secretary of state main advantage of the Italian opposition, who sees his popularity plummet every new survey that is presented by the media, with the increasingly coming elections. Because of this, becomes depressed, and from one moment to the other, disappears starfish on beach without a trace. To not throw it all away, the campaign starfish on beach committee starfish on beach decides to replace the candidate by his twin brother, Giovanni (also played starfish on beach by Servillo), a philosopher who has long been in a psychiatric hospital, and loves to say what's on your soul. From here, the consequences will be provocative ... and hilarious.
Acutely political satire that takes on classic narrative mechanisms to reflect the social and political relevance, Viva Freedom has the power problems, its weight and the lack of it as the central theme for a series starfish on beach of written smart, starfish on beach funny and deeply situations. It was very well highlighted in the presentation of the film, displayed in room Manoel de Oliveira Cinema São Jorge, we are facing a kind of Habemus Papam political. However, it is not only to Nanni Moretti film that this comedy will seek inspiration: also feel creative and humorous touches of Bulworth - Candidate in Danger, a devastating critique of Warren Beatty to the American political establishment.
It is an unusual work that plays with the protocols and the formal political hype, and the Festival nailed by choosing this as the opening film of the seventh edition: at a time when the socio-political instability does not intend to stop growing, would be good if all the Portuguese could make contact with this film ... and of course all the politicians in this country and around the world, have many lessons to learn from this comedy starfish on beach truly revolutionary, you do not need coups or corruption of power to change mentalities: here, the word is the largest of all Weapon.
Toni Servillo is genius in this double interpretation, starfish on beach which is perhaps one of the best of your resume, and it strengthens small defects in part of the film (including some more basic narrative constructions). Smart is the argument and all sarcastic and metaphorical shot we heard it, creating a film that shakes our civic sense. Viva Freedom should be more than a great film displayed a great Festival: starfish on beach is already required to pass the commercial circuit.
